Aloha Bread Lovers – Unfortunately due to the lengthy power outages caused by the current storm system that is pummeling the islands, we will not be able to offer the Jahnun breakfast special that we had planned for Sunday. Weather-permitting (i.e. no power outages) we will be open with our regular selection of breads and pastries and of course, our newest addition, Mr. Panini. Hopefully next week we will have the Jahnun ready to go. We also cancelled music for tomorrow until this Kona low moves on.
The weather….it has been wet and wild at times. Today we came into the bakery at 6 am, turned on the ovens for their hour-long heating up process to bake the bread, only to be shut down 23 minutes later by a power outage. On with the generators to keep our fridges and freezers running and then at 9:30 the power was back and it was game on. By 11:30 the racks were full of fresh sourdoughs…and then at 12:30 it went dark again so we gassed up the generator, made due without being able to accept credit cards (the horror!) and mentally cheered on the intrepid crews working in these nasty conditions to get the power back.
Hoping that you all stay safe and dry, in the meantime, please stay tuned for our upcoming talk story – next Sunday the 22nd at 7:00 with C.J. who has spent 15 years researching Cetacea (whales and dolphins). She will share her insights and experiences with us just as we wish our beloved humpbacks a safe migration back to Alaska.
